Do you have your DD 214 discharge paper? On it, it will say you have the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. How would you get these medals if you were not at Takhli AB. Good Luck!!!
I went to Takhli with the 49th TFW in May 1972, back to Holloman Sept 72. I was in the 7th TFS before 66-1 put us all in the 49th FMS.
I was on the second shift jammer crew in the AGE shop at Takhli.
Discharged Dec 1975 at George AFB. The only awards on my DD214 is AFGCM and NDSM. The only foreign service is my PCS to Clark AB.
I joined the Ohio ANG in 1977. In 1982, a captain made an announcement at roll call for any prior active duty people to bring in any orders they had during that time.
I turned in my TDY orders to Takhli, and eventually received the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross w/palm and the AF Outstanding Unit Award w Combat V Dev.
If not for being in the Air Guard, I never would have received them.
