I'm very aware that I am in the minority here but I still stand by what I said.

The next time I get a Peugeot Hdi through the door with the customer complaining about the throttle which sometimes won't back off, what should I do?

I could check codes (but they never show any) so perhaps I check live data or even put a scope on the pedal. Next thing is to go on test - but for how long? an hour? two hours? all day? Trouble is, the customer's only had the fault twice in the last month so perhaps I should drive around for a week. Surely they won't mind paying 1600 quid for a thorough diagnosis.

Or, I could just fit a new pedal because it always fixes that problem...

That, my friends, is what comes from experience and there simply aren't enough hours in the day for all of us to go hunting around for the same faults which is why we call upon each other and share information where we can.

I know that some posters expect a magic wand to be waved and seem to asking a lot but if this upsets you then just don't reply.

    Keep smiling,
    Richard
