Re: engine troop sucked into the engine of a b-66/j75 engine
THE PLANE I CREWED (ground crew) and the plane that killed Tim was EB66 491. It was in the 41st T.E.W.S. Capt. Browning CO. It was not washed, but changed out completely. Now, it may have been pulled and taken to the shop to wash, I don't remember if it was pulled and replaced or as you suggest, washed. I do know that it crashed on landing a month later. That supposedly was tower error, landing it off the side of the runway during rain storm (monsoon). My memories of the event are still quite vivid but details such as engine change and actual causes for it crashing a month later are vague these days. I was 20 years old at the time and Tim (airman killed) was only 19. I do have pictures of 491 (and me on it and in it).
