I agree with the above having got into the same predicament with the first one I did,ie turning the engine not realising the crank pulley was not keyed, timing lost in an instant ! I have the laser kit for these now,I have got a Megane to do in a couple of weeks,according to my friendly Renault dealer they have a TSB stating that the camshaft pulley securing nuts MUST be replaced along with the auxillary drivebelt at each cambelt change!, might not apply to your Clio but worth a phonecall to avoid an expensive mishap. As an aside to this do you know Renault have a "match the factor" policy where they will match the price of pattern parts ie Gates kits, just quote the factor price to the Renault man and they are authorised to match the price there and then !, they then send a fax. off to Renault and 99 times out of a hundred(so I am told) , the prices are dropped within a couple of weeks, after the factors or what?
