I was at Takhli from 9/69 to 9/70 and was the ground radio maintenance supervisor with 1980 Comm Sq. I remember when a thud crashed at the end of the runway on final approach. There was a flame out approximately 5 miles from touchdown. The pilot ejected after directing the aircraft from a populated area, but the aircraft however continued toward the base and crashed at the end of the runway. They said that 5 degrees right and it would have hit the tank farm and 5 degrees left would haven taken out the EB66 parking ramp. That was one of three runway incidents that happened during my tour.
