Most club kids are in the room practicing year round. They interact and are influenced by their club coaches hours a week, 12 months throughout the year.
I’m not saying high school coaches aren’t important or aren’t influential. However, many of these wrestlers are more of a product of their clubs, not the high school program they spend 3 months of the year with.
There are kids that only wrestle 3 months a year (high school season) and that experience with their high school program is critical. However, the reality of the sport is that the top tier kids are typically club kids. It’s not an insult to high school coaches, it’s just the reality you have to acknowledge.
