VW Golf 1.8 1992 - Non start, possible lack of fuelArchived Message

Hi fellas.. Im stuck with a non starting Golf. Basically the chap went to the shops, came out and it wouldnt fire. I went to have a looksee, first thing I noticed was the rubber mounting gasket between the spi unit and the manifold was in two pieces! It does have a spark, but as I noted then, no fuel being injected. I towed it in, obtained a new gasket and still no fuel - but then I didnt really expect any!! But at least the gasket is sorted.
Now then, am I right in thinking this model doesnt have a fuel cutoff switch??? That was the first thought but no sign of one. Too, the fuel pump is running ( can here it and fuel is gushing out the inlet pipe when ign switched on.) So again im assuming alls ok there..but - is there another (injection firing) relay I dont know about . VW were no help.
I dont "think" there is but if there isnt , Im beginning to think its a driver problem in the ECU. But what concerns me there is, is there something that fires the ecu driver that I don't know about, eg. a signal from the ign amp or something???? I have rooted through the archives but nothing to help.
If anyone can shed any light Id really appreciate it ! Thank you. Mike G
