In my humble opinion, the EGR pipework should be remove-able if it's been deleted. So, yes blanking it should be acceptable.

If you think about it, if the EGR is blanked, it would be the same as if the EGR were constantly closed or not operated by the ECU

If the ECU is looking for the MAF/MAP to alter during EGR operation (of which the software has supposedly been removed), then that software has not been modified successfully/properly. As it's still trying to confirm EGR operation by looking at it's effect on the relevant sensor.
