Was there in 72-3 out of Nellis. I remember Gibbons. Most of us thought he was full of it telling us his dad was Eual Gibbons. He was quite a bit older than us 20 yr olds if I remember right.
I was a #4 man. Loaded my share of my-82’s on the flightline and in the gantry. Once in a while we’d get some big wigs out at the gantry acting like they knew which end was up. We’d start muscling those 82’s around on the rail with a 2x4 lining them up to the BRU and they’d bug out pretty quick. Wasn’t hard to spot the pencil pushers. Lol.
I remember we seemed to loose an F-111 on a Tuesday ( hard to recollect some things 50 yrs ago). I remember CMsgt Sterner.
A bunch of us hit the NCO club ( including him) after work at 6pm and didn’t get out of there till the next day.
The FU lizards and the rice bugs use to scare the hell out of me.
Pulled night duty end of runway with a Ssgt Rasmussen.
All in all some fond memories. Gave me some time to grow up and become a man. Here’s to all you bomb Humpers 🥃
