I think Harry has wanted to move back for a few years. He has said previously that he wanted his children educated in England, there's no purpose in continuing the family feud (because there's no more money in it?) and that he wants to reconnect with his family and see his father regularly. Nothing from Meghan since she was clear about not setting foot in England ever again.

I'm finding it hard to believe that Charles knew nothing about these plans until just the other day. If this did get arranged underneath his nose and he was taken by surprise, that tells me he doesn't have the network his mother had when it came to staying on top of everything. It will be interesting to find out who located the home for the Sussexes and managed the lease (assuming) as well as arranged for the children to be enrolled in school anonymously. Also, how were the security arrangements made with nobody knowing? This isn't more than an overseas relocation.

I'm thinking that all this subterfuge was to keep William from finding out ahead of time and blocking Harry's plans.
