Haakon has his hands full. His parents are frail, his wife is in failing health, he has one child in jail awaiting sentencing, the other two children aren't ready to assume royal duties and his sister is off in airy-fairy land with her unsuitable husband. So, for all intents and purposes, Haakon IS the monarchy in Norway.
The slimmed-down monarchy style looks good on paper, but in this instance reinforcements are needed. Haakon and the children will be in mourning after the inevitable cascade of funerals.
