2) We got pushed WAAAYY out so many times. way too far out. we spend almost 3/4 of the clock beyond the 3 pt line, that ain't gonna cut it
3) I was surprised again how long we kept Askew in, given the result was obvious. If Acker can't get relief for Askew, and cannot get other plays to offset teams draping all over him, we are gonna score 50 points a game against decent Big West teams as well. I actually saw moments of our bigs doing some nice things, just not often enough. One thought was why are we not posting Askew more, he's taller than the guys guarding him, his game is drawing fouls, yet he can't drive or get picks to free him loose. I realize that's all easier said than done, just offense is gonna be tough. Askew continuing to play 36+ minutes a game is just not gonna cut it. It has to be frustrating for the entire team.
3) Denson's FTs, he should be much better. He hits the back of the rim every time, lol. maybe a bit more arc, maybe hits 80% in practice and then adrenilan takes over in games, and he clanks the back of the rim over and over. He will get better....I believe!
4) Wainright struggled. He took 3s and shots too long, where before he was getting better looks. We have to free him up for better looks.
concerned over next 3-4 games. this team needs to win for no other reason than to avoid starting to lose confidence. They need to be rewarded for hard defense before they lose faith in defense instruction.
Acker really is gonna earn his pay in the next 3 weeks with this group Previous Message
I mean the 24 second violations made me lose my marbles! Tough atmosphere to play in but as a team you have to know the clock. I don’t know if that’s a head coach issue or maybe an assistant coach issue. Seems like this team is too loosy goody out there just hoping they figure it out during games. I wish I could be in those practices to see what they actually get done. How productive are these new practices in the pyramid?? Previous Message
I know the season is young and this is a new group. I’m trying to take last night with a grain of salt. I know Acker is supposed to be a defensive guy, and it takes time to develop defensively as a complete unit. Is anyone more concerned with the offense? There is no rhythm, no flow, no successful sets being run. I’m probably just upset from the lack of effort last night, but I’m really concerned about the offense. Thoughts?
