IOTW, Jane has zero coherent strategy/organizatino in fund-raising/development, lol
last AD strategic plan was circa 2009-2010 I believe, lol
will have to see how the new Big Two (Montoya & Apel) navigate development.
we currently have a campaign that violates the very premise of marketing, i.e., the use of negative words, in this case No in outreach. No Barriers, while it seems nice, violates the fundamental tenants of Marketing, lol, using No & Barriers - two negative connotative words. smh and lmao as whoever came up with that one. what happens when people don't know what they are doing.
'Excellence & Opportunity' vs. 'No Barriers'
see the difference!
what in hades does No Barriers convey, I've never understood. whoever coined that should have been fired Previous Message
Apel is a multi-degree Beach alum, so at least better (one would think) decision making in the hands of those vested in the Beach past vs. Jane's UCSB cronies. You know, that University that Jane came from that was and is much less diverse than the Beach. Previous Message
Reporting to a CFO vs to the university president is exactly why the pool of candidates was less than desired.

Scott Apel
Jane in another new wrinkle and another decision she 'makes up' will have the AD reporting to a VP and CFO
so this decision is not hiring an AD, it's basically now two levels of AD, so practically your new AD is....Scott Apel, whoever the heck that is and whatever the heck is background is in managing sports and generating donor based revenue and etc.!
