If this is Mechanic'ing, you can keep it, this thing has come in from another garage with suspected wiring faults, which we found and sorted, ( 5 broken/shorted and corroded wires going to the pump) but it still wouldn't go, we then found the belt tensioner had broken up, so all we have got to do now is pop a belt on it. (ha ha) You would have thought that ford Technical would have been able to say something like, Oh yes sir, we have come across this problem and it is due to the belt being modified and special fitting instructions are needed. But I suppose that would have been too easy. So I now assume that the way to fit it is to wrap the belt around the perimeter of the pulley and then slide it down the teeth. The old belt is ok and has not worn thin, so I think we should be ok when we get the thing to fit. P.S. I am not up this early trying to work it out, I am on airport duties, so I had better get on my way. Thanks again T.S.
This is only the second cam belt we have fitted in the past few years, and both have turned out to be awkward, the last one was a nexia dohc and was a pain, and luckily another one that we decided not to touch was a 1.4 ecotech corsa, we sent that to another garage, and when they took the crank bolt out, the end of the crank came with it. I think it's about time to take up window cleaning.
