Tony Thanks for that. I did consider this method but again if I have a fault at the gauge end I will still not get a reading even if I had the correct wire through the test lamp. I suppose as you suggest knowing the colour code would help. I think I have done one of these before and I feel sure the same switch does the gauge as well, just need someone to tell me for sure befor I pull the dash out. Regards Clive
