Range Rover 4.6 HSE 2001 - Battery "hard" discharged (ie: 0 volts over night) # Archived Message

Posted by Paul Howd on January 29, 2010, 3:59 pm

Customer replaced battery due to non-start. However was unable to reset the immobiliser.

(There is a convoluted method involving operating the door locks apparantly)

When I saw it I discovered that the battery was "Hard" flat (0 Volts connected)

Autodata has a TSB on faults with the multifunction controll module failing to go to "sleep" causing this sort of problem, However Autodata provideds no other information on this. (Such as location or even fuse/relay connections! )

Battery is on charge over weekend and I am hoping that somebody might in the mean time be able to tell me how one can check the MFU for this fault and what might be involved in replacing it if it proves faulty (Or whether there is another way of dealing with the problem)

Also, is the unresponsive immo related to a possible MFU issue or is it likly to be a red herring (or indeed a completly diferent fault causing the battery discharge fault)
