The Last time this subject was brought up, I Started Typing a letter to Watchdog, I can't Remember why but I Never finished it. ( Computer locked up or I decided to go to bed and do it later etc. ) Anyway. My Other Thoughts on the subject would be, -- If We Bought a Modified Component off a Company as Big as BBA and they Guaranteed that Component, Then Wouldn't Some or all of the Liability drop back on there Doorstep. ? Surely if BBA make and/or supply that component, then they ought to be liable for its Fitness for use etc, ?? I know that We Do the work for the customer and they have to make us responsible for what we do on their car, but the component supplier should end up with Headache. ?? They Seem to have been Successful so far with Repairing Safety related components such as Steering racks and pumps, ABS units etc etc. And even though they have supplied quite a lot of components that seem to have been faulty on fitting, I haven't heard of any Lawsuits for anything that has failed and caused any serious damage to anything. ( not to say that it can't happen though. ) But at the end of the Day, I agree that Watchdog should be informed as The Manufacturers are denying any responsibility and are Ripping their customers off by selling inferior products at extortianate prices. I still have one customer with a 19,000 mile AUDI A2 with a faulty ABS unit and she is determined not to buy a new unit and the Dealers have refused to do it as a warranty. But one way or the other it will have to get replaced soon. Tony.
