Seat Toledo 20V petrol - Problem with Alternators, 2 fitted aready Archived Message

Alternator part no 030 903 023j
First saw this a few weeks back. Alternator not charging. Battry light not coming on with KOEO.
Owner fited sh alternator after which it seemed fine untill yesterday. Alternater no OP as before. Has since tried 2 additional SH alternators to no availl.
Is there an issue with these that kills alternators? (or has he just been unlucky with the scrappie ones)
Is this an ECU controlled alternator?
Is there a way of reliably testing these. It has two small terminals listed as "L" and "DFM"
