Having a run of bad ones this month!!
Have a golf with windows and mirrors that are not working as they should. Simply, the windows will not work at all, neither do the mirrors. This is what I have found.
Car has been previously worked on; various points in CAN lines cut open but then reconnected as part of previous diagnosis. I know why they have been doing this as I have know found this:
With the drivers/passenger door can lines o/cct, the windows will work independently of their individual switches. However, after 20 mins, the door controls lock out until you remove power from them and the whole cycle repeats. With the lines connected, the windows will not work at all but the central locking system does even sending can data, high and low, to the other locks. So in summary, as a complete system, the windows will not work! Would like to add that I do not have any comms with scan tool when acquiring comfort system or door electronics. I can communicate with instrument cluster and engine ECU...no fault codes othe that oil level sensor which was flagged many moons ago before this problem occurred.
What I have is this:
1. After battery reconnection and comfort module removed...windows will operate individually for approx. 20 mins then lock out.
2. After battery reconnection and comfort module fitted, no windows or CAN activity other than central locking.
What I have done to date:
1. Inspected and tested a-pillar wiring...all good.
2. Know good comfort module...no change in operation as described above.
3. Disconnected CAN lines at various points...no difference.
4. Tried known good window regs...no change
It is driving me crackers!!!!! Has anybody seen this before. Any pointers would be a help.
Many thanks,
Andrew
