I had similar symptoms on an Astra last year. ECU thermal fault which was successfully repaired by Actronics.

When you say "ECU Replaced by customer" how did he do this and where did he get it from?

I have found many times over the years that just because it is new (Especially if it was a customer E-bay purchace of dubious provenance) it doesnt mean it isnt still the problem!
