I had one in with similar problem but not an ABS light on.

This stored loads of fault codes all pointing to an engine ecu failure.

When i did an auto scan fault codes where stored in many ecu's relating to no comms with engine ecu.

Also when i did have a non start/no crank situation the fuel pump would often run and injectors operate pumping fuel into cylinders causing a hydraulic lock.

Eventually i decided to replace ecu and never had a problem since other than engine going bang in a big way.
