Re: Attention all flightline workers 1972 -1973 474th TFW
I was at Tahkli with 474th/430th intel. The VA paid for my education and became an professional engineer (RCE) with and have 30 years experience with toxic materials with speciality in herbicides such as AO. IMHO Heading should be "if you were at tahkli you were exposed". Given the quantities used and the lack of application protocols I'll bet residual contamination of AO (and its dioxin cogeners) may still be found in the water and soil in and around the base. I saw the trucks Tanks and sprayers back then and knew something was wrong. The heavy insect fogging was a nighlty routine is still a vivid and disturbing memory knowing what i know now. The drinking water contamination route is also interesting and should be followed up as well. One issue not addressed is the cumulative effect of now commonly used 2,4,5 t in addition to the original exposure to AO in SEA. See link below with caveat that it cannot be used on "FOOD CROPS" but fine for everything else. Its everywhere now even in your lawn for weed control. I think the VA is just waiting for enough of us to just pass away and the problem with it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic_acid
