It's those "tidbits" that make things interesting and educational!! I just know at the time there was no actual Western Union service at Ashley. The AA did have a regular dispatcher voice line to communicate with their dispatchers in Owosso. The agent used to let me put on the earphone and listen in. I learned a lot by being able to do that as stations OS'd passing trains and the dispatcher issued train orders to be repeated back by operators and then were given a "complete" and time by the dispatcher.
