It is an interesting bit of information that Henry posted about West Sherman, a.k.a. Claggetville, out of Michigan Place Names. Mr. Romig didn't make the connection between this and the name Glengarry, which is how it appears on any map that I have seen.
The 1889 Plat of Springville Township shows a "Sherman Branch" of the TAA&LM leaving the AA main right in the middle of where Mesick would spring up. I wonder if this branch was proposed or built. I haven't found a trace of it using aerial imagery. I also wonder if the 2.1 miles of the AA spur to Glengarry wasn't built instead.
Thanks again Henry, Mark and everyone for the great info. Any more that turns up will be welcomed.
