I know he went. The point was that he wasn't that tower or strength making all the decisions and that the Queen was incapable of coping, which was the narrative Bolland put out. In retrospect, it's a wonder that many people accepted Bolland's version. Charles was a quivering mass of jelly when his grandmother died and needed to lean on his sons and Camilla to buck him up. And he didn't rise to the occasion when his friend was killed in that avalanche and needed his aides to persuade him that the proper thing to do was to return home rather than to continue his skiing vacation.
