Nissan Micra 2003 1.2 - Timing chain replacement, time and cost? Archived Message

had a micra in with cam sensor fault, replaced sensor but same codes flagged. now i remembered an almera that ended up been the timing chain worn (no noise on this 1 tho!) so i sent her to the dealers for a diagnostic check and informed her what i thought it could be. she returned today saying it was the timing chain that needs replacement, i gave her a very rough figure of £600ish b4 she went to the dealers. she has booked the vehicle in with us for next week saying the dealers quoted some stupid amount. autodata gives 9hrs to do the job.....had anyone done one before?? presume it could be engine out for that time?? just to give me a better idea for next week in the real world.
many thanks and have a happy bank holiday!!
    get the barby out!!
