Why does district 2 get 3 more strait to state they took to regionals? But district 4 gets one less to state than they sent to regionals. Does district 2 have people on the board? Yikes those last 3 didn’t even belong in regional tournament. Let alone state.

District 6 and district 4 both only have four schools….but one gets to send 2 to state and the other gets to send 5. Make it make sense. Was district 4 that badly represented?

District 6 has 9 teams - MCC 4 & GSL 5

District 6 has 9 teams between MCC and GSL
District 5 has 7
District 4 has 4
District 3 has 20
District 2 has 13
District 1 has 7

Sad day for Washington state wrestling. When mediocre kids from one district go to state while talent from another district stays home.

Get more people to move into your district. it's a numbers game, but that doesn't fit your narrative of "my kids are better". seriously, how long are we going to play this tune. it's always been based on number and nothing else.

If you want it done any other way, tell your A.D. to stop trying to dodge those teams/districts you're complaining about in the other sports (Football, bball, baseball etc) they REALLY care about when the postseason comes.

Don’t think our AD likes wrestling….so that’s not helpful. We just went from getting 3 to regionals to only getting 2 to state. I know our #3’s would smash the number 8,9,10,11’s that are going to state. I hate that they removed regionals. I think it has worked out good for everyone else thats why it went that route.

I agree District 4 gets slighted by this model. Like was stated before, it's purely a numbers game and the WIAA wanted out of regionals because of $.
Our district lost out on a girls berth because 1 team didn't get all their girls assessed before WIAA pulled numbers and it cost us, but all had the chance and that's the way the state runs it and really has to run it, firm deadlines, IMO.

How did eliminating regionals save the WIAA money? Regionals was all run by high schools. The real reason to eliminate regionals was to increase the revenue for Mat Classic.

Regionals were run at high schools, not necessarily by high schools. Although to some extent, schools that hosted the regional were involved in running it, sort of by default.

WIAA funded all costs associated with the regional tournaments. And WIAA had no authority to make any school host a regional, so that became a problem.

Haha, you clearly don’t know the districts. Dodging teams in football?? District 4, 4a, Camas hs was in the 4a state finals and had the state player of the year. Skyview was in quarterfinals and has been in the state playoffs for 20 years and running. Same with camas. These 2 teams literally will play anyone, check their schedules. In wrestling district 4 had 3 of their 4 teams place in 4a top 10 as teams. This is factual information not theoretical bs. You can say what you want but state participants from last year will be left out for extremely weak kids up north at a 11th place at districts 😂. We had the best system with regionals. We are just copying Oregons weak structure, but hey little tommy who wrested jv can now take 12th place at districts and go wrestle a number one seed at state. Be careful what you wish for, I hope these kids don’t get injured because an 11th place kid from a weak district has noooo business wrestling at state.

I was chuckling as well at the gentleman who was talking about ducking other leagues in 4a football. WOW!!!! That is the complete opposite of the facts and is laughable GSHL had 5-4a state champs as well and will probably have another 4-6 again this year. It is what it is GSHL is rolling with 2 to state and that is the facts. The state champs will still rise, the change for them is the first 2 rounds will be 10 second pins

YOU NAILED IT! FINALLY COMMON SENSE SPEAKS LOUDLY THAN B.S. The board should of asked for outside input vs their little group of minds finding excuses to make more money in selling $50 parking, 80$ cheap shirts,and $20 hotdog and fries. I guess just having the experience to get whipped 2 and out is better than never getting to earn the state chance to wrestle at state??

Your comment is very laughable and you lack any knowledge of football, etc. Here is Camas and Skyviews football schedule from 4A district 4. Find any tougher schedules in the state!! Now lets see your kids schools football schedule since our AD's "duck" tough districts.

Skyview schedule
Radford (Hawaii), Graham-Kapowsin, Puyallup, West Linn (Oregon), Decatur, Richland, Union, Battle Ground, Camas, Juanita, Bothell, Sumner

Camas Schedule
Roosevelt, Clackamas, Lincoln, Oregon City, Coeur d' Alene (Idaho), Monroe, Battle Ground Union, Skyview, Stadium, Curtis, Arlington, Gonzaga Prep, Sumner

So much for district 4 in 4a division at hammerhead. Koyama and Jerell got destroyed in finals and frachett was like 7th or 8th. Lol.

What’s your point here. Jerrell took third in lower weight class. Frachettr took 5th and Koyama won it at arguably the weakest weight class in 4a. District 4 is a joke outside of the Skyview champs. Get real

District 3 for 3a gets 12? Did I read that right? Seeding for state will be based on results posted on track? So many thoughts and where do I start? It is possible for an individual to lose more times at districts than win, yet qualify by finishing 12th. Am I the only one that finds this strange? If state is placing 8, I believe that the bigger districts should have been capped at eight allocations. Can't place more than 8, why send more?

District 3 is comprised of multiple leagues. There isn’t 12 berths coming from one tournament.

As it sorts out, the different leagues will get different allocations

That makes sense. It doesn't pass the smell test but we will all see how it works this year. There will be some minor changes in the future. Some states that have a team tournament don't keep score at the individual tournament.

Gut check one weight class of the top 5, 4 of them are from region four 4A and only two can make it to state. 😳 and if they drop down a weight the the number one and two are also from Same region.

Your point is spot on, but it is what it is at this point. It really hurt region 4 4a when the they ran the numbers and mt view and prairie were miraculously 12 kids short of 4a or some crazy small number and they chose to stay at 3a. Not sure why those schools wouldn’t want to compete. That would have helped but it’s based off number of teams in the district so it is what it is. Maybe try and team up with another district next year. Not sure if that is possible or not
