As someone who wrestled at a mediocre at best high school, I can tell you the influx of 2 freshman my Junior year was very welcome because we knew they had a very strong background with trips to Fargo among others. They are the reason we were invited to the Reno Tournament of Champions. They both won multiple state championships and went on to wrestle and do well in college. The high school went back to mediocrity when they left. There have been a few here and there that stand out. but again, everyone there knows it's because of the club wrestling they do, not the school. And it's not like they came out of nowhere to surprise people. Wrestling is a small community. Everyone knows everyone. There are no surprises with incoming freshman. It's why we always ask the rankers to include freshman.
