    Hi Guys,

    Sorry it has taken so long to post the fix.

    I want to say thanks to Tony and Chris for there incredibly generous offers of help. (although on this occasion I did not need to take them up!)

    Jerry gave me a clue when he said the PCM was not being powered up properly.
    Nick was correct when he said it sounded pretty basic.
    And Mike was absolutely spot on when he suggested the earth connection at the rear of the block below the starter motor. This is where the missing earths for the PCM are picked up from. It turned out that the mechanic that swapped the gearbox had removed them to make it easier to remove the starter motor and as nick said it was as basic as a faulty earth connection.

    Thank for the tips and the warm feeling that you are not alone!
