Fiat Punto 60 1.2 SPI 1999Eng:176B4.000 - Will not start after gearbox replacement Archived Message

    Vehicle:
    Fiat Punto 60 - 1.2 SPI - 1999 - 44K Miles
    Chassis No: ZFA176000 * 02786618 - Engine Code: 176B4.000 - Version 176AR53A 05
    PCM:
    Magnetti Marelli - IAW 16F . E3 / 6A37-27

    Problem:
Vehicle came in for a new clutch (No gear selection) Engine ran fine, drove vehicle on to lift personally so I know I was not imagining it!
Found bell housing destroyed (around clutch sleeve), took an age to source part, rebuilt gearbox fitted by one of my girls today so battery has been disconnected for over a week now.
She goes to start car and vehicle cranks only - no spark, no fuel. Orange key symbol and "Code" now permanently illuminated on dash even with key out! PCM will not let me in or even power up a code reader! Presumably immobilizer has activated?
Asked owner to bring in any other keys, arrived with one other blue and one red "master?" key all produced the same effect.
Any one else had this happen?
    Was it something we did?
Will some sort of recoding procedure help - If so what?
Or am I doomed to tow it to the dealers and part with lots of money?

Good earth to engine and PCM.
Happened late yesterday so have not had a chance to do any further checks as yet

Any tips or suggestions gratefully received.

    Regards.
    Kevin

PS. Not sure if I have done this correctly as this is my first post. If I have got it wrong please let me know so I can do better next time. Kev.
