A mate of mine had a Sharran that blew up, he rebuilt it and threw it back together, but he didn't check the oil pump, when he tried to start it, it wouldn't run, we checked oil pressure and there wasn't any, then there was too much and it jacked the tappets up too far, on stripping it back down we found out that the oil pump had collected the debris from the pistons melting etc and it either stuck closed or fully open, Being a bit tight,he stripped the pump and cleaned it out, rebuilt it and everything worked ok. (it was crimped together but he uncrimped it and crimped it back up and drilled it and put a split pin in, just as a secondary precaution). Not the best way to do it, but he wanted to know whether the engine would run ok before he spent any more monbey on it.
