Hi Mike. The main starting problem with these is usually tight tappets, causing low compressions, we have done a couple and also we have sent dozens to another garage for this problem. also they must have good quality glow plugs, otherwise they burn out quickly. We use bosch glow plugs, but have had the odd ones burning out, In the latest catalogue, they list a new plug to fit all these engines, I think they are the ceramic type and they are fairly expensive. you can use a shim kit or we got the old shims machined at an engineering company, as we could not get the kit.
