Vauxhall Corsa 1.5TD Diesel Isuzu Engine Starting problems Archived Message

    Hi folks...
Just wondering if anyone can help here..
The customer complains constantly that the thing wont start. Cranks forever- starts eventually with plumes of smoke. Its only ever done it wth me once. What I did was note the length of time the glow light stayed on ( 3secs ) .. Attempt start - and you then get the continual cranking problems. Then, I counted about 6 secs AFTER the glow light went out - heard the click of the timer - then turn key - starts instantly - and does so for me all the time. The customer says that method is now failing too. >>cringe<<
So.. I was wondering.. this car has had two starters in the past - due to failure of whipping the engine over.. Im wondering if this could be the problem though its not 'that' slow. Can anyone tell me the "correct" method of checking for excessive current draw on this model???? Im sure it may be worth checking. Charging system seems fine - battery good ( not very old as is alternator and charging relay) Starter is about 2 year old too.
Dont want to rattle on too much so II'll stop here.. if any could help Id really appreciate it.
    Thank you all..
    Mike
