Update
This vehicle has now gone to a L/Rover specialist as I only have limited equipment. Up to now it has had a fuel pump and then an injector pump but as far as I know is still not correct. I did check all the things suggested except for the modified pipe in the last post. The vehicle by that time was out of my hands.
I will post the fix when it happens.
