    Hi Clive.
Have you checked the in tank fuel pump?
Drivers side kick panel there is an inertia switch, the wiring goes to the fuel pump. Check for voltage while the glow plug light is on.
Alternativly put an amps clamp round the small black earth wire on the inner RH wing by the fusebox, this is where the fuel pump earths, so the whole circuit is checked.
They really need the pump for cold start, but will start when warm without it, especially when tank is above 1/2 full.

The glow plug relay controls the power to the fuel pump (which you can just hear running in the rear when the glow plugs are on).(although it also feeds from the starter circuit for hot cranking)

It is important to check the glow plugs by using the smaller red wire from the battery to the glow plug relay, again use an amps clamp & you should have over 60amps draw when the plugs are heated (just before cut off).
