Range Rover 2.5DSE 1998 (BMW Diesel) - Hard Cold Starting Archived Message

This a BMW diesel, very difficult to start from cold. I have replaced all heater plugs and also temp sensor for same in the inlet manifold. Battery is fine and engine turns over rapidly.
Have checked the power to the heater plugs and that is fine. Engine will eventually start but battery may go flat first. Vehicle runs fine once it is going. Mileage is around 90000. Don't really know where to go next.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    Cheers
    Clive
