Hi Dave,
An easy way to check the length of a timing belt, if you have the old one, is to turn them both inside out, hold the two belts together interlocking the teeth, mark across the edge of both of them where they join with chalk or Tippex, then keeping them together turn them both through one complete revolution and the marks should line up again.
