Hi... ref your problem "the real fault comes in when in 4th & 5th gears and you reach 4500 rpm in 4th or 4000rpm in 5th. At this point the car will hold back (feels like fuel starvation),"...... Did you see my posting reference same car and what sounds like similar problem?? in forum ecus etc..
Mine turned out to be exhaust/cat...but have a read , see if symptons ring true.

ps...its under heading Fiesta 1.25 Zetec N reg.... or something similar.
