    Hello Tony,
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, but was only speaking of my personal experience.
I used to have an ex dealer tech, that was a retained fire fighter working for me & he asked if I could tell him about lpg, because he wanted to do a talk on it , as non of his crew knew anything about it.
I was recently called out by the Police late at night, because a vehicle was leaking lpg from its' tank(because it had been poorly fitted)& the fire brigade didn't know what to do with it, but were considering evacuating half the town. When I got to the car, it took me about 5 minutes to tighten the compression fitting and stop the very small leak. They told me that it had been leaking since mid afternoon (approx 10 hrs), which with liquid lpg expanding approximately 250 times(as I am sure you will know) when it vaporises, made the situation worse. They could have just turned the stop cock on the tank, or crimped the pipe, or simply tighten the fitted like I did.
I have also had a vehicle in which had caught fire with lpg fitted & I suspect that it probably had been caused by the coils' king lead arcing on the bonnet, but although the fire had melted a hole through the bonnet, the only part of the lpg system that had been damaged/burnt, was about 100mm off the end of the vapour hose where the air intake hose had burnt back. This vehicle had been supposedly serviced by a main dealer about a week before hand.
I recently had an inspection from the uklpg, who showed me some horror story pictures & also showed me a car that had exploded, when the driver lit a cigarette, even though he could smell gas. The driver went relatively unharmed, suffering from slight burns up the centre of his face, even though the car looked totally wrecked. The inspector commented that in his opinion if it had been a petrol fire then the driver would have been a lot worse off, but also said that possibly if he had had a passenger sat next to him , then the gas explosion would probably have taken their head off.
Without regulation & with dosy pillocks like the driver of the exploded car, then yes I agree it is dangerous.
I also could hardly beleive that the local fire service didn't seem to know anything about lpg.
    Regards, Andrew
