Hello Glen, I, like Kelly have been fitting lpg conversions for years. I mainly do repairs now though as it is difficult to get the time to carry out an installation. The main problems I come across are caused by poor installations & incorrect setting up /tuning in the first place. There are a lot of vehicles with do it yourself conversions & supposedly professional conversions , which in my opinion are pretty poor. If the installation is done correctly/professionally in the first place & set up/adjusted correctly , then there is usually very little to go wrong. The UKLPG (formerly LPGA) will advise you of any problem vehicles (as should any supplier), which are likely or known to be problematic with soft valves etc. The biggest problem I see with a lot of installers is their lack of understanding of the petrol operating system in the first place, with most problem lpg installations being caused by poorly maintained vehicles or existing problems on the petrol side of the vehicle. Another problem can be the customer not understanding how to operate the system correctly & thinking that they are not getting the savings that they thought. If fitted correctly lpg conversions are safer than the petrol usually stored in the plastic tank on a vehicle. I have found that local fire brigades/services tend to panick & think that it is really dangerous, but they don't seem to know anything about lpg. sorry for the long post, pm me if you want to speak out it more. Regards, Andrew
