Hi our price for the same vehicle is £136.00 Inc VAT but we charge on average another £20.00 for fuel filter & £18.00 Pollen filter depending whether they require changing, warning the customer if especially new that these are extras. Servicing is now becoming a night mare for the office to cost & quote especially with new cars under warranty, doing manufacturers services. We tend to stick to the schedule in Autodata, charge the Hourly rate there and cost parts individually to arrive at a price for A,B,C servicing. It is getting harder to quote menu price servicing on all makes, because now manufacturers are going to CBS (Conditional Based Servicing) BMW's idea of complicating things. Other manufacturers are going to follow suite. Again we add in a labour time + parts to arrive at the costing of each individual operation, including resetting the computers counter system. Haven't quite arrived at the costing of the 2 yearly inspection service for one of these yet.

A good clue is go to the manufactures web sites and look to book a service and you will see their price promises, because in these lean times a lot of manufacturers are catching on to our independents price fixing for a given service. Audi are for example, on the web are promoting all vehicles up to 2.0 major service £199.00 all inclusive, remember this is a dealer service. We can still compete even with a new & very active Audi dealer just up the road, but you need to be aware of what your local market is, because servicing makes up nearly half our turn over, it is very important to us. The newer cars we are wondering about cleaning cars on major servicing as this really does impress customers, but is yet another cost to factor in.

I have found our new GA2 software ideal setting up under a standard labour tab "Servicing" a long list of preset servicing combinations which greatly helps the office cost the correct service that is appropriate. I would be very interested in what others do out there?
