I've had a look at our one this morning and it is not the same as you have described yours. Our drier has only one electrical connection which has a knurled brass screw on cover and it's at the rear of the drier. As far as I remember this is the pressure cut-out switch.

The truck was about 3 years old when we first got it and the drier packed up within a few weeks when it started leaking past a diaphram. The system couldn't build pressure, spring brakes came on the truck ground to a halt. I went out to recover it and found there is no way to air it up like as in the normal air brake system. MB say that you should adjust the rods of the spring chambers shorter until the brakes release. Fat chance of doing this at the roadside due to corrosion. I attached an airline directly to one of the brake chambers and crimped the flexible hose from the chassis to the axle to stop the external air supply escaping forward. Brakes released and we're away back to base.

The first drier supplied by Mercedes proved to be faulty. Should have known better as the box came opened. Second one was OK and we have'nt had a bother since.

I found out at that time that there were several variations of the electric compressor system and it often confused even the dealers. I'm glad we only have one of them.

Check your drier element for water contamination and then if you're sure you don't have a leak, I'd try a cut-off switch. Sorry, I can't be of more help.

    Gerard
