Hi Mark. I cannot follow that Prodedure as the Engine will not start.

Hi Phil. After talking to another 2 Techs today, one from TRW and one from a Renault dealer, I am still no wiser. No one seems to know whether a used steering motor can be fitted. ( data says not to use used components ) I suppose that cos the new ones are so crap that a used one won't last long.

It appears that they must be new Virgin units and learn the code as soon as they are fitted.
( so in that case they are one time programmable. ) ??

I have got some more info to follow whilst programming, which is not on the Tech data, but the car has gone for a new column fitting now.
so i might not know until the next one comes in.

They did say that the Dealers once fitted a column from another car and a Lucas Tech came out with a laptop and they think that he had the software to virginise the EPS, He disconnected the battery and reconnected it and it started. So it could be possible with the right software that they don't want the Garages or independents to get hold of.

    Thanks Tony.
