    Well you live and learn. It was water drawn in from the servo. It was the colour that put me off. I can honestly say I have never seen oil react like that to water.
    The other thing that put me off was that on the filler cap there was the usual coffee coloured gunge under the new layer of grey. It must be the case that the old oil would have gone coffee coloured with water but what ever new oil was used reacted different and went grey.
    The giveaway to diagnose it was that when I spoke to them again they mentioned that the owner had complained his brake pedal make a squelching sound.
