Hi Guys.
Had this one recovered in by the RAC with a split pipe on the rear of the engine.
When we removed the pipe it seemed to be oil contaminated and the outer skin had blown up and split.
We have now replaced the pipes and run the vehicle up but we can't get the heaters to run hot without holding the engine at 2500rpm. The radiator pipes take ages to get hot and the rad itself seems not to get warm at all.
It will idle in the workshop and not over-heat but when I took it out on road test it got hotter than I was happy with.
I suspect the water pump impellar but the customer insists there was no over heating problem. The pipe just burst.
I'm tepted to replace the 'stat just to be sure but I would have thought the heaters would get hot if it was stuck closed.
Has anybody any thoughts before I quote the guy for a pump & timing belt kit, etc. It's the first time he's used me (on recommendation) and I don't want him going away feeling like I've fleeced him!
