    All i know is that factor camshafts on the SOHC engines did cause low compressions on random cylinders. They got the profiles wrong on the cam lobes. Going back a few years we had a much earlier Astra which we fitted a Unipart camshaft and kept getting a misfire on Cyl 1 checked compressions and found slightly lower compression on that cylinder. To cut a long story short it turned out to be the camshaft at fault, fitted new genuine Vauxhall camshaft and no more problems.
