    Audi A3 1.9TDi, 2003 - P1503 (17911) Load signal from generator Archived Message

Any help on this would be appreciated...

The audi A3 in question shows no apparent drivabillity problems but keeps logging EMS DTC P1503 (17911) 'LOAD SIGNAL FROM GENERATOR'.

After the car is started it can be left to idle (or be driven) for about 9 or 10 minutes until the MIL comes on and logs DTC P1503. The alternator has been replaced with a genuine Audi part with no improvement made. The charging amps at start up (warm engine) measure 16amps, this decreases gradually to approx 4amps at which point the MIL comes on. The charge rate continues to fall to zero until the engine is switched off and re-started.

Looking at my wiring diagrams the alternator charge signal comes from pin 38 of the EMS ECU,as of yet this has not been checked.

    Anyone seen this before ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob Sculfor
