The car has a wheelchair conversion and as a result a non-standard fuel tank. After the vehicle is refuelled it will stall and run poorly for some time. I pulled the carbon canister purge pipe from the manifold and found liquid fuel here. Plugged the manifold orifice and the engine started after a few seconds and ran fine.
I'v not been underneath yet but I suspect that the vent pipe is maybe too low in the tank allowing the carbon canister to be swamped with fuel.
how is this problem prevented with a conventional tank system. Is there normally any sort of baffle inside the tank perhaps?
I was wondering if I could fit some sort of interceptor to catch the liquid fuel, perhaps a small container with the pipe to the tank in the bottom and the pipe to the canister out of the top.
It is a problem the car has always suffered from apparently.
Shaun.
