I am sure it is a loss leader, similar happened to one of my customers, the dealer loaned her a new car, increased her invoice by quite a bit over estimate as her old car "had a lot of very corroded nuts and bolts to undo" and by the way "how did you like the loan car, did you realize they only cost £xxx and can be done for £xxx a month"
