This one is now fixed,

The bodyshop who left this with us supplied a second hand dash panel for it.

I fitted the dash panel, turned the ignition on & the dash woke up - not yet configured - I tried the electric windows & they were still inoperative.
I installed & configured the dash, then the windows worked??

I still can't see a link between a dash that is totally dead, a dash that is recognised as being there but isn't configured yet & a configured dash & why the latter brought the windows back to life - if anyone can explain why the windows were affected I would be interested to learn.
